Dear Sir,
I most respectfully adirean this letter to you in regards to a complaint made to the Colonial Secretary by my wife in ilongsong. I am informed by lar. W. J. Wilkinson my brother-in- -law that he was called on to give answers to any questions regard- -ing me. I up to the present nave not be a culled on to make any statement, but feel it my duty to state for your information bust the following are fucts. (1) Four years ago I came on leave to England on my return I was written to by two or three base women who blackmailed me by anying I was the fallier of an illegalamtod child and Photos sant and love letters which I nended over to my wife in Hoagrong some addressed my Darling husband and etc. which was false in the face of tasm. It appears that re. Cotton my wife is trying to Mike & Chue of these letters against me to the Govorn -went with a view to obtaining my portion or portion of it, but, 1 have not yet committed myself. On the 26th, arch, 311, I retired on pension with a firet clase character. On leaving the service I found that my wife had not saved any money on what I give her all my salary for over sixteen years therefore by ma trusting her to save and kept out of debt I found that she and contracted debts, and the pension if I remained in tongkong would not pay the 22 p.c. interest on the loan. I then seeing the Lad circumstances I 708 in wich fix five loving children I refused a free passage to London on the 18th. April, 1912. I commenced business for Lyself in lion kong but closed to go to Singapore leaving, her with a full house of furniture to sell and followed me by the next German ail. by she sent letter after that she would not join me. I
